Dr. Hind Zantout, from Heriot WattUniversity Dubai Campus introduces "Scratch" by demonstrating games and animations, and walking the audience through a few simple exercises, covering important concepts and features. Scratch is designed for children between 8-16 and is provided for free by MIT Media Labs. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.

The Arab publishing houses suffer from a lack of editors which has great consequences. In fact, most publishers rely on the author himself to achieve the duty of the editor which reflects a negative trend in the Arab world. Indeed, what contributes in the dissemination of this phenomenon is that many publishers in the Arab word publish books at the expense of the author, like they are just printing houses. An editor plays a critical role in choosing the right works to publish and shape the language for P&R of the book. This discussion will adress the important issues from different perspectives.
In an innovative project with Foyles of London from the United Kingdom, Neal Hoskins lead producer will look at how digital consumer services can provide virtual bridges to real world bookshops and in turn give writers, publishers and booksellers the chance to retune their lifelong relationships.
