The Icelandic language is considered the cornerstone of the Icelandic culture, and it’s development since the 18th century can be characterised by purism. Icelandic does not usually adopt foreign words for new concepts, opting instead to coin new words, or give old words new meaning, to keep the language free of outside influence. Join Prof. Gauti Kristmannsson, in a discussion on language revitalisation and cultivation that may offer new perspectives on how to deal with the growing bilingualism of the GCC-region.
