This talk will cover collection development practices at the UCLA libraries as they apply to Middle Eastern Collections. The acquisition of materials about the Middle East in Western languages as well as the acquisition of Middle Eastern vernacular language materials in all formats from the Middle East as well as Diaspora publications will be discussed.
David Hirsch has been the Librarian for Middle Eastern Studies at UCLA since 1989 and has lived, worked, traveled and studied throughout the Arab world. 2009-2011 He worked as Advisor to the Abu Dhabi National Library.

David Hirsch served as the Librarian for Middle Eastern, Central Asian, South Asian and Islamic Studies at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) since 1989.
